It depends on your intended use, the style you desire and the environmental conditions in which it will be laid.

You are not yet convinced?

Below is our detailed guideline, broken down into the main cornerstones, specially selected for an informed choice that perfectly reflects your individual expectations.

1. Consider the use and destination

Each natural stone has different characteristics in terms of resistance, porosity and maintenance.

For interior floors

  • Marble: elegant and refined, ideal for living rooms and bathrooms.
    • Quartzite and Granit: durable and less porous than marble, excellent for high-traffic areas.
    • Travertine: beautiful and warm, perfect for rustic and classic settings.
    • Slate: non-slip and durable, suitable for modern or industrial style interiors.

For outdoor floors

  • Veronese Stein: scratched or rolled is perfect for pool surrounds, walkways, courtyards and driveways.
Basalt: very tough and durable, great for modern exteriors.
    • Veronese Stein: scratched or rolled is perfect for pool surrounds, walkways, courtyards and driveways.
    • Basalt: very tough and durable, great for modern exteriors.

For floors, walls and decorations

  • Marble and Travertine: suitable for any location, fireplaces, fountains and decorative walls, in warm and elegant tones

    • Onyx: translucent and scenic, perfect for backlit walls.

  • Granite: very durable and less delicate than marble, but with sensorially cooler nuances.

For kitchen and bathroom countertops

  • Granite: Very heat and stain resistant, excellent choice for kitchens.

    • Marble: Elegant but more delicate, requires a minimum of maintenance but will not be necessary for certain finishes already treated during production.

    • Quartzite: As hard as granite, but with the elegance of marble.

2. Looking technical properties

📌 Wear resistance: for high-traffic environments we offer quartzite, Veronese stone, granite, Luserna stone.

📌 Non-slip: for exteriors, spas, wellness areas, preferably stones with rough surfaces or processed by bushhammering, sandblasting, rifling or acid-washed.

📌 Maintenance: some stones, depending on the finish, require periodic protective treatments. The choice of the type of finish will be decisive in reducing or eliminating any maintenance.

3. Finish and Maintenance

🔹 Glossy surface → is one of the most elegant, but requires a little more care than other finishes. The polished finish is obtained by grinding and polishing the stone (such as marble, granite, travertine, etc.) until it becomes very smooth and reflective, almost mirror-like.

  • Features:
  • Enhances the colours and veining of the stone
  • Smooth surface to the touch
  • Elegant and precious look
  • Reflects light → illuminates the room

Polishing can last for many years, especially on hard stones such as granite. On softer stones (such as marble), it can wear more easily in areas of high traffic or use.

Brushed, antiqued or treated surface

The term “brushed, antiqued or treated surface” refers to the type of finish applied to a surface to achieve different visual and tactile effects.

Brushed surface

  • processed with abrasive brushes (metal, nylon or other material) to obtain a matt or slightly translucent texture with visible veins or streaks.

    • Advantages: hides scratches and marks better, gives the stone a natural appearance.

Antiqued surface

  • A processing of the marble surface that recalls old and worn floors, with an orange-peel visual effect that reproduces the aged or worn appearance of marble while still being new.

    • It gives the stone character, charm and a rustic or vintage touch to look lived-in.
    • Advantages: slightly non-slip finish and easy daily maintenance

Trated surface

  • It indicates that the surface has undergone an aesthetic or protective anti-stain or waterproofing treatment, which may include oiling or waxing using natural, non-chemical products. The purpose may be aesthetic (changing colour or gloss) or functional (protecting it from external agents such as moisture, corrosion, wear and tear).

4. Consider style and aesthetics

When we talk about the style and aesthetics of NATURAL STONE, we enter a very rich world, where design meets material.

Natural stone – such as marble, granite, travertine, slate, onyx and many others – is chosen not only for its strength and durability, but above all for the intrinsic and unique beauty it offers.

Each slab of natural stone is unrepeatable, with veins, shades and textures that are never replicated in the same way.

This lends character and authenticity to both indoor and outdoor environments:

Classic, Modern and Rustic Style → the choice of natural stone suitable for the style will depend on the surface finish of the Marble, Stone or Travertine that are most suitable and recommended for these styles.

Luxury effect → Onyx, arabesque marble, Calacatta, Brazilian quartzite certainly have a special charm that lend a luxury touch to the environment.

The effect also varies depending on the cut and finish: a glossy finish enhances colours, while a brushed or polished finish gives a softer, more natural touch.

5. Budget and sustainability

Some types of Carrara marble, Onyx and some Quartzites definitely require a high budget, while other stones such as marble and Travertine are more accessible.

If you want an eco-friendly solution, choose local stones to reduce the environmental impact of transport.

The NATURAL STONE, in any case, has many ecological advantages:

  1. 100% Natural Material
  • No heavy chemical processing
    • Contains no VOCs (volatile organic compounds), so it is non-toxic
  • High durability
  • Lasts centuries → less replacement, less waste
    • Good for life cycle assessment: very diluted environmental impact over time

  • Full recyclable

  • Can be reused as such (e.g. in new constructions) or crushed for sub-bases or aggregates
  • Low maintenance
  • It does not require paints, synthetic coatings or chemical treatments, but natural water-based products are sufficient

In addition to ecological benefits, think about sustainability and make a conscious choice:

  • Prefer local stone → less CO₂ in transport

    • Use standard or reclaimed formats to reduce waste

    • Value natural finishes (antiqued or brushed) → less energy used
